entertainment industry coach question 547: What do I talk about when I meet a mentor?

You talk about where you are in your career now, where you want to be in a year, and how you plan to get there.

The mentor's role is to give you feedback on how "do-able" your plan is, new ideas, and what his/her experiences were. Mentors can tell you what worked or what didn't work for them as they navigated their career path.

Have questions prepared that are "next step" questions. In other words, they've already been where you are, so you want the heads-up on what comes next. Allow them to share their insights and the possibilities for you to help you take the most direct path to achieving your goals.
